go pro Fakie styyyyle - how to onvert cheap chinese camera into go pro style

I am gonna show you simply how to make a go pro like cam for cheap

1- buy a cheap camera , i bought mine for 17q , If you like to have some good quality check the frame rate to be about 30fps and resolution above or at 640x480 , I also checked that my camera will be in solid shell in this case it was not waterproof but... tape.. tape it.. fix it

2- very important part can cost even half price or even more than camera, it is up to you, the better lens u buy the better result will be, but of course there is no reason to buy a super costy one for very cheap cam unless u will buy better cam in future and use the same lens ;)
    about lens :
 - perfect will be 180 degrees field of view, and this have to be dedicated wide angle lens for mobile phones (they have same sensors in same close distance to lens which is important)
- important, be sure the lenses have more than one optic element (mine have three little lenses inside that differ by viewing angles and dioptria) also be sure they are not made out of plastic but glass or if you wonna be pro a special coated glass with filters (you can see it does reflect different coatings different colors on the front lenses)

Okay, first of all when we have all parts, lets carefully take them a bit apart..
left lens and cover , right torch looking like camera for 17q

front stock inside of the camera before mod

unscrewing the 'torch' shield and two securing screws that hold the board

as always at chinese cheap things, the connections are very delicate and made in hurry, so i glued tape with silicon glue to the board so in case of any accident it will not rip off the paths or connectors out..

Also I realised that U can actually take it apart even more and wire out the entire sensor and microphone so you can put it into the helmet to have 'Halo suit' helmet :P  but I dont have time for this one now..

taking apart the lens to check if it fit inside..

it does but when I tried to attach it togetheragain it created a pressure on the inside ellements,
u can tape it together and dont care.. but i find it stressfull that any direct hit on the camera can damage insides and it will be hard to repair it after all.. so to avoid that.
So I tooked it out and glued it outside like this..
I did not had a proper glue so i will also tape it later on

now the worst part.. sensor.. it looks like it have aobut 56mm lens inside with some IR filter coating on it..
such a shame since it will be not good for any IR night vision mods later on, whatever..

important - glue the sensore with a hard silicon glue in the center , u can use lens that u putted on the  front to do so..

be sure to add some extra glue, cause this camera will be shaked on bike etc all over the time so it need to be extreme solid as possible. add glue with layers, patience, to not over heat the sensor or any other elements like tape isolator..

okay time to slide it in.. i was suprised but there actually is a slider inside made of metal WOOOW

right on place and ready to go..

tadaaa  well done ! go Pro 200q ? we have it for .. 20 good job..

Imoprant notice :

remmember that the lens is a wide angle one, in sunny days it need a hoodie like my plastic, also as farer you will put the angle converter from the sensor the quality of image should go better and better to optimal around 90degress i suppose, since u can get even wider than that like 180 but.. u will catch sun, reflexex inside of lens and low contrast also may be some problems with a sharpeness, Do some test before glueing everything together to see which you prefer , happy experiments ;P use a lot of tape to hold everthing together and it will be okay.

I taped mine prettey well and tested it in hard rain, everything is fine.
